Patience + New Skills = New Dress

IMG_1216Knowledge comes by realizing you know nothing at all and everything is new.

It’s about getting lost in the moment. Letting go and allowing your mind to wander and your body to be free. There is this freedom in the unknown, there is no systems, no procedures; every move is a new discovery. I think of being a child and the amazement of discovering a new thing and I can’t help but think how much of that we’ve lost with age and circumstance.

IMG_1244At some point we all must grow up; yes, but does that mean we stop discovering what the world has to offer. To grow more fearful with each passing day. Perhaps childhood has slipped us by but we should never seize to be inquisitive of the things around us.

We are never too old to learn and too knowledgeable to be taught.

Go out and explore the wonders that surround us.

All pieces designed and handcrafted by me. First time making this type of dress completely free hand, no commercial patterns used. It was hard at first but, I made it through. If there is one thinking sewing has taught me in these couple of years, you can teach yourself anything, you only need patience.

Have you found yourself becoming more cautious with age? Are you less likely to try new things? If so, what do you think has changed.
